A spirit of inclusion, a spirit of the earth
I’ve been writing prayers and liturgies informally and for publication for over two decades. As a priest in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, I believe the Church does theology through liturgy. In the space of our celebration, we are held in the presence of God and one another, and transformed by the movement of grace.
As a Christian committed to an inclusive church, I believe in prayers which challenge the boundaries we place around God’s grace and welcome. I also believe in a spirituality that unites us with the web of nature, the pulse of the earth.
Some of my collects are now approved for use in the Anglican Church of Canada.
God of heaven and earth
drawing all things into union:
we thank you for the gift of marriage.
May your Spirit lead us in an ever deeper understanding
of an equal partnership offered equally to all
and may the union of your servants who are wed today
be a living sign of your inclusive love.
We ask this through Jesus Christ
the image of your heart.
Amen.
God of all being
you are made known through river and rock, feather and flame,
through the story of evolution and the tangled webs of life:
teach us that we too are children of the earth
and guide to show reverence and respect
for all our creaturely kin.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
in whom all things are created.
Amen.

'These are prayers crafted in love to a God of love, which reflect the reality of our lives with wisdom and insight. There are prayers for each one of us, enabling us all to feel equally blessed whilst celebrating our God-given differences.' -- Jayne Ozanne
"I welcomed this collection of prayers when it was first published and I welcome this new edition even more. The prayers and blessings are inspired and inspirational, full of images which surprised me and made me think. The new additions, including collects for Mary and prayers and blessings for same-sex marriages, will be valued by anyone praying for a church truly open to all. The book is a labour of love, both timely and timeless." -- Giles Goddard

* The Seed of Promise: Spring - Lent
* The Fire of Life: Beltane - Easter to Pentecost
* The Greatest Light: Summer - Ordinary Time 1
* The Gift of First Fruits: Lammas - Harvest
* The Time of Gathering: Autumn - Ordinary Time 2
